Last time I wore this shirt, you all scolded me for letting it hang in my closet unloved for so long. I’m proud to report I’ve worn it manytimes since then and this top is certainly not going to be shunned once summer’s over. Neon was huge for summer, but it definitely doesn’t have to get the boot for fall.
The trick to introducing neon into your fall ensembles is moderation. While it was great to pair brights with brights during summer, toning down your look will make it suitable for fall. Limit yourself to choosing one neon piece per outfit (or 2-3 if using accessories), and then layer with neutral colors. For this outfit, I chose a black ankle pant to provide contrast and threw on a grey blazer to add polish for work. Add pops of color with your accessories, like the multi-color beaded chain necklace and green belt I chose for this outfit. The addition of colored accessories will add some interest to your neutral layering pieces.
For a more casual weekend look, ditch the blazer and layer with a denim chambray shirt instead. Trade the heels for flats and you’re ready to run errands or catch a movie in style. Here are some other fun ideas for outfitting your favorite neon pieces:
